Home Decor & Paint Colors

I've had so much fun the last few weeks thinking about decorating and paint colors for the house. We didn't really think that we would be moving again so quickly (although I was keeping my fingers crossed for a fireplace for the Winter 2010).. It seems like just yesterday we were painting our apartment.

Our current paint theme for the living room is a burnt orange with tans and light greens. I like it, but the orange can be some what dark. The orange was more of a trendy choice.. With a house, I feel like paint colors are a whole different story! We have to find something that we will like for a long time - since painting is such a hassel!

I have been requesting magazines from Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Pier 1, ect to look at the popular paint colors and home decor these days. Luckily, the house already has really nice and neutral paint colors. We are just thinking about painting the kitchen and master bathroom.

I'm thinking about painting the kitchen a bright, sunny, yellow and then going with a yellow & green theme in the living room.

This is my inspiration for the living room (for now) :

Since we already have green.. we just need to add the splash of yellow! The walls of the living room are a khaki color so it won't be as bright as the picture.. but I hope that the yellow kitchen & yellow accents in the living room will make things bright & happy. :)

Weekend Fun is to come..

It's been a really long week. I am really looking forward to the weekend! I think I live for the weekends.. yes, its true.

Anyways, here is what we have planned:
Saturday AM - Going to one my best friend, Angela,('s) baby shower. Angela and I met through mutual friends a few years ago.. she went to Jonathan's high school and married Mark who played baseball with Jonathan. We saw each other at showers & weddings throughout the years. In the fall, they moved to Charlotte and since then we have become such good friends. We go to the same church and Mark will be working with Jonathan on the Charlotte Booster team when school starts back up. Angela is so much fun to hang out with - she is the outgoing personality that I've always wanted. Anyways, I'm excited about the baby shower and even more excited to meet Hannah Jade in a few weeks!

Saturday PM - We are going to a Wedding in Columbia, SC. My friend named Crystal is from my home town of Sumter, we both went to Thomas Sumter Academy, and then we were at Winthrop together for a few years.. although she was always a few years older than me. Our parent's are good friends also. Jonathan and I love going to weddings together now that we are married! :)

Sunday - Father's Day!! We are having a cook-out/swim party at my parent's house in Sumter. Jonathan's family is coming and we plan to celebrate our fathers, eat some yummy BBQ, enjoy the pool, and play some games. I love when both of our families get together.

...Maybe I should take Monday off? ;)

Murphy's Summer Haircut

Murphy, our 2 year old Golden Retriever, got his first summer hair cut yesterday. To me, it was a pretty big deal. I LOVE Murphy's pretty hair. Its long, sometimes tangled, and probably really hot, but it so cute. A golden retriever is no golden retriever without the hair!

Anyways, after Jonathan insisted for almost two weeks that Murphy would LOVE a lighter load for the summer, I decided to give in. I mean, it grows back, right?? Jonathan was off on Friday, so he took Murphy into PetsMart and he gave them strict directions NOT to shave all the hair off the poor guy. I'm not gonna lie - I was pretty nervous.. and anxious to see the outcome.

Around 5:30pm Jonathan and I both went to pick up Murph and he looked so handsome! He was like a new dog - happy, lighter, cooler, and clean cut. This will probably be a yearly occurrence. Well, depends how the growing-out process goes.

Carrie's Graduation

Carrie, my awesome sister-in-law graduated from High School a couple weeks ago. Jonathan & I were both able to make it down to Columbia to celebrate! I came from Charlotte and Jonathan came from Greenville, SC.

We went to the ceremony in the morning, took lots of cute family pictures afterwards, and then had an awesome southern meal - SOUTH Carolina BBQ. That's right, they just don't make it the same here in Charlotte, North Carolina. I love South Carolina mustard based BBQ. Anyways, it was kind of a bummer that I had to be back at work at 2pm that day.. didn't actually get there until 3pm.. but it was worth it! Jonathan's grandparents were also there to celebrate! It was a great day and always fun to spend time with family.

Carrie will be heading off to Anderson College (Anderson, SC) in August to play Women's Soccer. We can't wait to go to some of the games!

Check out some cute pictures we took:

1 Year Work Anniversay

Wow - It is SO hard to believe, but I have been working at the CP Charlotte for 1 year! I started June 11, 2008. It was definitely a very quick, unexpected job change - don't you love when the Lord works like that? I remember being a little nervous knowing that I was getting married in 3 months and had to asked for 2 weeks off right off the bat in a new job (yes, 2 weeks.. 1 for pre-wedding preparation and 1 for the honeymoon in Mexico). The transition was hard at first just like any new job. New co-workers, new office, new part of town (up-town!), new responsibilities. I guess I shouldn’t say new, just different. Anyways, I feel so blessed because although I didn't see it coming, I can now look back and KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT the Lord was directing my steps and working for the GOOD in my life.

Here's to 1 year.. and counting (for now).

Seeds

I have, unfortunately, always been pretty terrible about memorizing scripture. I have a few key verses committed to memory, but have always been amazed by people who have a plethora of scripture memorized. I often find myself using www.biblegateway.com when a verse is on the tip of my tongue. Although its a great source, it doesn’t quite have the same effect as looking up a passage in the bible.. and it's easy to say "why memorize the verse when I can just look it up?".

I certainly have known that my prayer life and witnessing would be more fruitful if I were more disciplined to commit pieces of God's word to memory. Not to mention the power that can come from declaring truths against Satan (like Jesus did when he was tempted in the wilderness).

Ephesians 6:17 says "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Thanks again, BibleGateway.com) The word of God is the one piece of armor used to slay the temptation of the enemy and our own sinful nature.

Well.. I first heard of Seeds Family Worship through another blog that I follow. It's becoming popular for kids & families these days. The songs are pure scripture verses.. and I love listening to them!

You can get more info at www.seedsfamilyworship.net. I bought Vol 2 "Seeds of Faith" here are the songs on it:

1. The Word of the Lord ( 1 Peter 1:24-25 )
2. Grace ( Ephesians 2:8 )
3. Hey Man ( Romans 5:8, 6:23 )
4. The Light of the World ( John 8: 12 )
5. No Greater Love ( John 15:13-14 )
6. Faith as Small as ( Matthew 17:20 )
7. Eternal Life ( John 3:16 )
8. They Will See God ( Matthew 5:8 )
9. Walk In is Ways ( Psalm 128:1 )
10. Faith ( Hebrews 11: 1 & 6 )
11. Carry It On ( Philippians 1:6 )
12. New Creation ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 )

I'll hopefully have all these verses committed to memory very soon! :) I also can’t wait to listen to this CD with my kids some day!
